EMW Stahl-Service | Steel grades

You can find all types of sheet steel in the following overview:

01

Hot-rolled steel

  • Combines good workability with relatively low production costs
  • Is versatile in use, including in the automotive, construction and mechanical engineering industries as well as in pipe manufacturing

02

Cold-rolled steel

  • Produced by rolling hot-rolled feedstock
  • The “cold-rolling” process allows extremely tight thickness tolerances, enabling exact fits for precision parts
  • This makes it the first choice for numerous sectors such as automotive manufacturing, pipeline construction and mechanical engineering

03

Hot-dip galvanized steel

  • Hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel products tend to corrode after a short time
  • For this reason, steel components have been batch-galvanized afterwards for centuries
  • Because this is a very cost-intensive process, the strip used today is usually hot-dip galvanized in advance instead

04

Electrolytically galvanized steel

  • Unlike hot-dip galvanized steel, the zinc on electrolytically galvanized sheet is deposited onto the strip by an electrochemical process
  • This protects the cold-rolled material against corrosion and produces very homogeneous zinc layers on the surface
