Hot-rolled steel – EMW hot strip

Hot-rolled steel combines good workability with relatively low production costs. It is versatile in use, including in the automotive, construction and mechanical engineering industries, as well as in pipe manufacturing.

About production

Hot strip is the first stage in the manufacture of flat steel products. Here, a slab is rolled while hot into a coil with thicknesses of roughly 1.5 to 16 mm. By adjusting the chemical composition in the liquid phase and through precise temperature control, different steel properties are created. We supply hot strip in the dimensions you require—whether as a coil, slit strip or cut-to-length sheet. When slitting, we maintain the tightest tolerances and accommodate special edge requirements.

Different variants

Hot-rolled steel is generally supplied in pickled condition but can also be ordered unpickled. It is most often pickled in hydrochloric acid, which gives it a light-grey, rough surface. Despite the hot-rolling production process, extremely tight thickness tolerances can now be achieved.

High-quality materials

We work predominantly with European steel mills, sourcing coil material in standard and special grades to EN standards or any common automotive specifications. In addition, our worldwide contacts with steel producers broaden our supply options.

Hot-rolled steel is categorized into various grades—ranging from soft to high-strength—for different fields of application:
